October 23, 2002 - Salvo v3.1 Released

Salvo v3.1 is now available for most targets, and is the first Salvo release to be distributed and resold worldwide by Salvo resellers like HI-TECH Software.

 
October 6, 2002 - Salvo for TI's MSP430 Updated

Salvo for TI's MSP430 v3.0.9 is now available. It now supports ImageCraft's ICC430 Development Tools as well as Archelon Qaudravox and IAR toolsets.

App Note AN-20 accompanies this release.

 
September 25, 2002 - Salvo for Motorola M68HCxx Now Available

Salvo for Motorola M68HCxx is now available.

Also, we have made a slight change to the way that users access our download areas, and App Note AN-19 is now complete.

 
August 22, 2002 - M68HCxx Distribution Nearing Release

We're very close to the first release of Salvo for Motorola M68HCxx. This release will support the 68HC11 and the ImageCraft ICC11 Development Tools. We'll follow with more compilers for the M68HC11, and then with support for the 68HC12 and 68HC08 (we hope), too. Stay tuned!

 
August 7, 2002 - App Note for IAR PIC18C Compiler

App Note AN-14, which explains how to create Salvo applications for PIC18 PICmicro® targets in the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE, is now available.

Also, Salvo for PICmicro® MCUs v3.0.8-b is now available. See the notes for details.

 
August 4, 2002 - IAR PIC18C Compiler now Certified

We have finished certifying the IAR PIC18 C compiler (v2.10A) for use with Salvo on PIC18 PICmicro(R) MCUs. Salvo for PICmicro(R) MCUs v3.0.8 is available now.

 
July 27, 2002 - App Note for Keil C51 & µVision IDE

App Note AN-13, which explains how to create Salvo applications for 8051 targets in the Keil µVision IDE, is now available.

 
July 23, 2002 - Salvo for TI's MSP430 Updated

Salvo for TI's MSP430 v3.0.7 is now available. It takes advantage of updates to the AQ430 compiler to reduce code size and improve speed. AQ430 Development Tools v2.0.1.5 are required.

Also, the Troubleshooting section of AN-18 has been updated.

July 11, 2002 - Update Available for Microchip MPLAB-C18 v2

A patch containing new libraries for the MPLAB-C18 v2 compiler has been issued for the Salvo for PICmicro® MCUs distributions.

Salvo Lite users can get the patch here. Salvo LE and Pro users should go through our download page.

 
July 10, 2002 - New App Note for HI-TECH Demo Compilers

We've added App Note AN-17 for users who are evaluating Salvo with HI-TECH's PICC and/or PICC-18 demo compilers.

 
May 23, 2002 - IAR PIC18C Compiler in Beta Testing

We are currently at the beta testing stage of certifying the IAR PIC18 C compiler (v2.10A) for use with Salvo on PIC18 PICmicro(R) MCUs.

Pumpkin is now an official Microchip Third-Party Partner. The Salvo RTOS runs on every PICmicro(R) MCU available, with support for three (soon four) C compilers.

 
May 20, 2002 - Updated App Note AN-15 (MSP430 w/IAR Compiler)

 

We've updated App Note AN-15 with a new Troubleshooting section.

This addition (which is applicable to all IAR compilers) illustrates how to solve the problem of linking to a library that was created using a different version of the IAR compiler than the one you're using.

 
April 24, 2002 - New Salvo for 8051 family App Note Available

We've got a new App Note AN-16 that explains how to use message pointers with Keil's Cx51 compiler.

The Salvo for 8051 family distribution has been updated to v3.0.4 -- this version corrects problems some users were having when using Keil's Lx51 linker.

 
April 19, 2002 - Salvo for PICmicro® MCUs v3.0.4 Available

We've updated the Salvo for PICmicro® MCUs release to be compatible with HI-TECH's PICC v8.00PL2 compiler.

We've also updated the Salvo libraries for Microchip's MPLAB-C18 compiler to be processor-independent.

 
April 6, 2002 - Salvo Now Supports TI's MSP430

We've added a new family to Salvo's growing list of supported targets -- TI's MSP430 Ultra-Low Power Microcontroller.

This new release works with IAR's MSP430 C Compiler, and is the first Salvo distribution to integrate Salvo source code into the standard Salvo libraries. Now you can step through Salvo source code in C-SPY with library builds. Check it out!

 
March 20, 2002 - Salvo for 8051 family v3.0.1 Available

This new release of Salvo for 8051 family adds support for Keil's Lx51 linker, corrects some minor issues in the tu1-tu6 tutorial projects for microVision2, and adds the missing standard libraries to Salvo LE and Pro for 8051 family distributions.

We received so many queries about Assembly Guide AG-5 "Assembling the SSDL/SCU PIC17 Protoboard" that we went ahead and created an updated, more versatile version for our customers. You can find more info on our new PIC17C75X Protoboard here.

Introductory pricing for a complete, tested unit is $349 (or just $249 when you purchase Salvo Pro at the same time).

We've added a new App Note AN-12 "Building a Salvo Application with Microchip's MPLAB-C18 C Compiler and MPLAB IDE" to help first-time Salvo users with MPLAB-C18.

 
February 6, 2002 - First v3.0 Distribution Released

The Salvo Lite for PICmicro v3.0.beta3 distribution is the first Salvo distribution to support the Microchip MPLAB-C18 compiler, and is just one of several additional compilers we are currently certifying for use with Salvo.

 
January 21, 2002 - MPLAB-C18 Port in beta

We now have Salvo applications running in-house using MPLAB-C18 v1.10. As soon as we figure out which library lineup best suits this compiler, it will become part of the upcoming v3.0 release.

 
January 12, 2002 - Salvo v2.2.1 Released

Salvo v2.2.1 is a maintenance release and replaces v2.2.0.

Existing users who are using Microchip MPLAB 5.40 or later, or HI-TECH PICC-18 v8.11pl1, should upgrade.

 
January 9, 2002 - MPLAB IDE v5.50 CD-ROM Includes Salvo Lite

Microchip now includes Salvo Lite on the MPLAB IDE v5.50 CD-ROM.

Please note: To use Salvo Lite v2.2 with MPLAB 5.50, be sure to read this note about MPLAB project compatibility.

We've added a new App Note AN-11 "Optimizing Salvo for Use with the HI-TECH PICC-18 C Compiler" for PICC-18 users who are concerned with ROM and RAM usage, especially coming from previous PICC experience.
